Look up Kiku-Masamune and you may be confused as it will come up as a Sake skincare lotion. I wouldn’t be opposed to that because women love lotions. If I saw Sake and lotion combined together, I’d be hoping to be the poster model for it!
Kiku-MasamuneHowever, it’s been the model for genuine dry Sake in Japan for over 350 years. This brewer is very serious to bring consumers the pure nuances of what every Sake should taste like.
The sake was finally made famous in a 1983 kitchy commercial for a Japanese Department store.
“As your eyes fall upon good food, you begin to crave Kiku-Masa. As the dryness of Kiku-Masa hits your tongue, you begin to crave good food.”
Kiku-Masamune Koujo Junmai is something out of the unordinary in contrast to other classic styles of junmai Sake from Kiku-Masamune brewery. Koujo means, a Junmai brewed using the brewer’s newly invented original yeast.
Even though they are the icon of dry Sake, using Kiku-Masamune’s newly developed sake yeast imparts a semi-sweet and fragrant aroma of tropical fruits and Hawaiian flowers It flirts with red bananas and spicy cantaloupe lifted with crispy honey apples. Its textured mouth-filling very broad and slips off the tongue on the finish like satin sheets. There is definitely an element of HMMmm! With an Umami Arora that makes you feel on your toes yet light enough to invite the party. Chilling this sake will have you feeling more chill than ill.
